Welcome to the web site of the Law Office of Lynn A. Lape, a Debt Relief Agency. Our law firm helps people struggling with debt determine their best options under the federal laws to manage their debt and regain financial stability.
Personal service is the defining attribute of the Law Office of Lynn A. Lape. We know that the decision to reach out to a stranger for assistance regarding your financial circumstances is difficult and we treat each client with respect and dignity.
The Law Office of Lynn Lape was established in 2000 to provide bankruptcy services to individual consumers. Our office has led the way in filing cases under the new 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act, filing over 100 cases within the first six months of the laws effective date.
Your free initial consultation is with either attorney Lynn A. Lape, or Cynthia Daugherty. All appointments are scheduled for one hour, during which the attorney will interview you about your present circumstances and explain how bankruptcy may or may not help you. There is no commitment to our firm or to filing bankruptcy at this initial meeting.
All debtors are required to obtain pre-bankruptcy credit counseling within 6 months of filing to qualify for bankruptcy protection. The cost for the credit counseling ranges from $28 - 50.00. A list of approved credit counseling providers can be obtained at http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/index.htm. We recommend the local Advantage Debt Management Services, http://www.helpwithbills.org/.
In addition to completing a pre-bankruptcy credit counseling interview, Debtors must provide the law office with a full six months of proof of income plus their tax returns for the prior 2 years in order to qualify for bankruptcy protection.
